If you've been keeping up to date with posts, you might have seen my Back to Basics post. In short I explained how I was shaking up my makeup to suit my wintery skin better. Enter my bargain RealTechniques set. (Honestly, if you're in need of new brushes check Superdrug, these were only £7.99 for the set!) It's called the Fresh Faced Favourites set, and that's exactly the look I'm going for at the moment.
First in the set is the BB/CC Cream brush. It is a brush I haven't seen before from RT, it's actually an exclusive to this kit, so I'm glad I got the set. The bristles are cut at an angle which makes it easy to buff product in and under the eyes as well elsewhere on the face. They're also very dense bristles, this helps with the buffing and the large surface area of the brush means it doesn't take long to apply either - which for me is what I'm looking for, if I've decided to use a BB/CC Cream it's usually because I'm going for a no hassle makeup look.
The Detailer brush is one I'm glad to have a duplicate of. This brush is amazing for spot concealing any blemishes, and also painting on concealer under the eye if you need to brighten it up. Or if you want to define the brow or lips. Also, it's a wonderful little lip brush, but as up until now I only had one which was my concealer brush. Now I have another my lips can be perfect!
The final addition to this set are 6 sponge wedges. These are the kind you always like to have handy just in case you need one. They are incredibly versatile too, you can use them for foundation, loose powder for baking, SFX makeup fake blood. You could probably do your whole face with just these sponges and your fingers - but I think it's rather a waste if you've spent your money on beautiful brushes, don't you?
Currently, I've been using the BB/CC Cream brush anytime I've been wanting a natural finish. I'm so glad I picked up this set, £7.99 for just one brush is good, but £7.99 for a set of 3 and 6 sponges is even better. Like I said earlier keep checking Superdrug for deals on sets like these, £7.99 for RealTechniques brushes is a steal. And one that your New Years budget might just be able to stretch to.
